Vote Now! People For's 2008 Equine Posterior Achievement Award
(cross posted on People For's blog)
The Equine Posterior Achievement Award has been created to honor that leader whose abilities to misrepresent an issue, manipulate his/her followers, brazenly disregard reality or pander to our baser instincts reach such ridiculous levels that we don't know whether to laugh or cry. In other words, a genuine "horse's patootie."
Vote for Ideas to Change America
I posted on the People For the American Way blog about the an awesome project happening at Change.org. Change.org is running a great contest to get ideas for real change and innovation from the public and presenting some of the best ones to the Obama transition team. Book Review: Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow
Sharp Teeth, the debut novel from Toby Barlow, brings a new twist to one of our culture's favorite monster legends: werewolves ... well, in this case, more like weredogs.
Race race race race race race race... and you hate America
Hate to wade into the presidential race, but I can't resist. I am really feeling a little crappy about my country right now (yeah, I said it, call the patriotism police).
1 in 5 Americans Think the Sun Revolves Around the Earth
Someone forwarded me a post by a guy who riffed a bit on a WaPo piece from February (link below). I'm posting it here because it very importantly illustrates:
1. How important education is!!! and....
2. How destructive [right-wing] frames that promote 'values' like anti-intellectualism and anti-rationalism can be.
