Blind Justice : I don't think so. At least, not for Paris or in LA

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about how disappointed I was that Paris Hilton's case was getting more attention that news regarding issues like living wages. Just when I had found a certain level of peace with the situation (since Paris turned herself in a couple of days early), I am shocked to learn that she will now be serving her sentence...guess where....at home. Wow. That's some sacrifice.

Is Paris' transfer making anyone else mad? It just seems to me like a blatant abuse of power on her part. If I happened to be the one in jail, there is no way that I will get the kind of break that she did. What's even more disturbing is the reason for the sudden transfer - medical reasons. Come on. Anyone who probably has been in a jail cell for about a week, having nothing to do and no one to talk to would go crazy! Too much alone time can really do damage to a person. I don't have to be a doctor to realize that. And the terms "medical condition" is too vague. If you are going to subject her to the comfort of house arrest (It's Paris Hilton's house. How bad can it really be? Besides any house is probably better than jail!) then a simple medical condition cannot be your only argument cause then anyone could probably claim that and serve their terms at home. Oh wait, I meant everyone who has money that is.

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to belittle her said condition because I am sure that there really are medical conditions that arise from spending time in jail. But the problem with this situation is that the justice system is being biased towards those who have power and money. We already saw that when her sentence got reduced and now this. This act tremendously undermines and reduces the image of the justice system in my eyes. Hopefully I'm wrong and her transfer was really necessary. At least that would make me believe in justice once more.

Maybe she has a new disease...

...called Rich-and-privilaged-itis.  All I know is if I ever end up in jail, I'm going to request a transfer to Paris Hilton's house for medical reasons, too.  If it worked for Paris...

You got that right!

Seriously though, how bad can it be in her house?!

yea, this was just absurd.

think about how many other first offenders acquire "medical conditions". the whole thing is absolutely ridiculous; but sadly, it speaks more of our public justice system.

MESSED UP.

why wait for prison

can i be transferred to paris house now for medical reasons?
