YP4 Fellow Chrissy Cooley knows how to throw a party. Tunes pumping, speeches by local leaders, and the distinct aroma of french fries... What could it mean?

Earlier this month, Fellow Chrissy Cooley and the Students for a Sustainable Campus at Ohio State University organized the Scarlet, Gray & Green Fair. The event featured a full day of live music, speeches by local politicians and activists, food and free giveaways such as compact fluorescent light bulbs and powerstrips that enabled attendees to reduce their carbon footprints immediately.

Several Ohio-based Fellows enjoyed a YP4-sponsored brunch before the event, where they were able to connect with more than 50 environmentally friendly businesses and organizations.

The event was carefully planned to be completely zero-waste, with only recyclable and compostable materials and all power provided by a biodiesel bus, which ran on vegetable oil and had solar panels mounted to its roof.

The purpose was to highlight Ohio State’s existing environmental achievements and provide students, staff and the surrounding community with a multitude of ideas for future advancement.
