Defending the 1st amendment...if for the "icky" stuff (by Neil Gaiman)

I just stumbled across this blog post by Novelist and Comic book writer Neil Gaiman (ansani boys, sandman).

It reminded me of a question that Tony (my trainer) posed to me about having a creative arts studio promoting 1st amendment rights. Was I willing to stand up for everyone- even the racists and sexist artists that I don't agree with?

I told Tony, yea I was. But I would make it crystal clear that their thoughts were their own and not mine.

This is a nice read, in part because of the subject, but more so because Gaiman is just a fucking awesome writer. He makes a number of good points that I thought all of you out there might find useful, esp. when the going gets tough.
