Valley Roots Blueprint Implementation
Elody Gyekis, a 2008 fellow from Penn State, is busy implementing her Blueprint for Social Justice! Valley Roots - Approaching a Mural as a Process of Community Engagement is a Blueprint that Elody designed to address the rural decline facing her hometown, Millheim, PA. She is using this creative and collaborative project to create an intergenerational and diverse dialogue among community members and encourage civic participation.
Elody recently welcomed Matt Popek and Arielle Hesse to Milheim. Matt and Arielle rolled up their sleeves and went to work contributing to Elody’s Blueprint.

Social Justice Blueprint
I have been thinking seriously about my social justice blueprint. I thought I had some clarity in which direction I wanted to go. I probably still do but I dont have something concrete yet. Below is a description of where my thoughts are at and what I'm deliberating.
In my fellowship year I would hope to work towards strengthening the progressive network and collaboration among progressive students, campuses and young progressives all throughout Ohio's communities. The goal would be to have an increased electoral impact on Nov. 2008 in Ohio.
YP4 has equipped many students throughout the state with the skills and resources to better their progressive advocacy. The students that do choose to follow through and enact their social blueprints will undoubtedly have an impact on their campuses. But can there be a way to share and work together across campuses? Can there be a way to to build a coherent youth led progressive infrastructure in Ohio? And can young progressives engage the political progress and civic institutions to have a significant electoral impact? These are the questions that I am trying to answer and explore ways to address them.
