As an aspiring politician/businessman with an intellectual interest in economics, i often struggle between the idealism in me and the intellectual obligations i feel i have to economics as an area of study. Often when i engage in a project, i always look at ways of sustaininig it but i find that that side of consideration is hardly the norm among most folks.

Update on the Minnesota Senate Race

According to CNN.com a local election board denied Democrat Al Franken’s request to include 12,000 ballots thrown out on election day.

With only 80 percent of the revote already taken place, and 5,000 or more ballots being challenged on both sides the recount can take a few more weeks to complete.

There is a lot we can learn from a friend of mine. His name is Christopher Koehs and i met him at the Congressional Black Caucus the summer of 2007. The man is the epitome of progress and reminded me of the whites who fought along side blacks in the civil rights movement. He went to Morehouse College and now is at Kwazulu Natal doing grassroots.

According to CNN.com 53% of voters in November’s election were women and out of those women 56% voted for Barack Obama, 43% for McCain, and 1% other. Out of the overall 47% of men voters 49% of them went for Obama, 48% for McCain, and 3% for other.

I woke up today not realizing the massive loss we all feel. I asked myself what happened today 40 years ago, I was off by 5 years. I could not imagine the loss of my President. It would be too hard to snap back from.
