Farming in the City
We should all grow some of our own food. No, I don't mean we should all become farmers, but we should grow part of what we consume. Think about it, at this precise moment there are people going to bed hungry and some are dying of starvation. The raising prices of basic food such as rice, corn, and flour have become such an international issue that all the advances gained in the war against poverty can be lost quickly if prices continue rising and become an obstacle to people's ability to feed themselves. If we teach people in urban centers to grow part of their own food in small lots, communal abandoned city lots, and on roof tops we will all have an impact on the demand of some foods and indirectly make food more affordable .

Ms. Palfrey, another victim of gender based injustice and selective prosecution, hanged herself at her mother's house in Florida. This is an example of how in this type of cases the justice system prefers to prosecute women service providers than their powerful and influential clients.
Supreme Court OK's Photo ID's To Allow People to Vote
The U.S. Supreme Court decided on Monday of this week that an Indiana law requiring people who wanted to vote to show a photo ID was constitutional. I believe this requirement will definitely have a negative impact on the participation of voters who have a disability and the elderly who may find it particularly difficult to get around to a courthouse or other government agency in order to satisfy the stringent new ID requirements. Also immigrants may feel intimidated by the requirement and may decide not to participate in elections because the photo ID centers may not be accessible to them and they may not have the money to pay for transportation to the center.

A New Look at Marxism

There is a great class war in our society. Globalization, capitalism and other forces have managed to further the gap between the rich and the poor.
458 Billionaires control over half the world's wealth. 3 trillion people earn less than $3 a day. The abject conditions of the working poor continue to disintegrate each day around the world and in our own country.
A man once wrote about this class struggle. His name is Karl Marx. His teachings and communism have been dragged through the dirt by many intent on making sure the current system is eternal.
