Why Hillary shouldn't be Obama's VP: Your Thoughts
I recently received the following article from a listserve. I'm still chewing on the content of the article, including the underlying tone. Without fully coming to my own conclusions, I thought I'd offer this article to our shared space and gauge some healthy and safe discussion on peoples' thoughts.

Unity
Iread the newspaper everyday and all I want to do is cry. Our government doesnot represent us, and it is leading the world in the destruction of our planet. The saddest thing is the people who should provide hope are threatening thefuture now. The Democrats are threatening their chances in the 08 presidentialrace by all this division and dirty politics. After the havoc Bush's republicanadministration has reeked, this election should be an easy win for moreprogressive candidates, but Clinton is too busy attacking Obama to help furtherthe progressive cause.
Your health care plan doesn't go too far enough!
We've all heard the right-wing canards about health care reform. Any deviation from the current private insurance system is immediately derided as "socialism," or "a massive increase in government spending,"or perhaps even "destined to become a huge bureaucratic nightmare." Of course, I've never heard it explained how our privatized health insurance system is not expensive or overly bureaucratic, but never mind that. I want to talk about our "big three" Democratic presidential contenders, and how none of them has really had the guts to go all the way on health care reform.

Freedom of Choice
Let's talk about choices. We've got a big choice coming up in 2008. We lucky Americans in our big ol' democracy get to choose who the next president will be. The campaigns for the next presidential bid started earlier than any election cycle in history, and already we're being inundated by news stories from all over the place, covering which candidate got his hair cut and which one would bring his wife with him if he was stranded on a deserted island. Interesting, isn't it, that the press has already almost decided who will run on the democratic ticket?
