So, I wouldn't normally use the Young People For blog to self-promote, but it's for a good cause: I have a little article in this month's CosmoGIRL! about why Cosmogirls should go blue and become Democrats.

Was there a pregnancy pact between the teenage girls attending Gloucester High School?  Whether or not there was a pact I believe the real issue is not the veracity of the story but the fact that there are so many pregnant girls in this Massachusetts High School.

Tonight, Bush is addressing the nation with another nauseating State of the Union. On days like today when I feel angry or helpless about the state of affairs, I search the news to find stories about real working class people who wage battles against injustice on their own terms, with integrity, with character, and without loads of money.

I am most inspired by people who make change because it is the right thing to do, not for personal gain or fame.

Rebecca Kushner-Metteer serves as an inspiration to me because she and a group of her neighbors and friends in Kalispell, Montana took to the streets to protest the arrival of the racist tweenybopper girl's group, "Prussian Blue" in their town. Their actions gained media attention and sent a strong anti-racist message to a growing number of white supremacists who are relocating to their state. Not in our state. Not in our name.
