Congratulations Julianna! But other people read this too...

First, congratulations to Julianna for being this year YP4 Ambassador. You're well deserving of the honor to represent YP4.

But more than that, now you and your team have a glimpse of what it's like to run a campaign.

Running campaigns, raising money, organizing people, and building the progressive movement is hard work. It's not for everyone. I mean, who really wants to spend all night working on posters or fliers for little or no pay just to get your message out to change a few people's minds.

Well, you. You do. And I need your help.

Just a quick shout out to all the couples that married in Massachusetts three years ago today.  What a giant leap forward.

We should take a minute to thank our friends at MassEqualityfor their continued fight to defend equal marriage rights.

While calling for a reform of the property tax system to make education funding fair for all students, she also proposed spending a greater share of lottery money directly on education.

"We all deserve good education, decent pay, a fair court system."

Speaking on her record of community activism, personal experiences, and deeply held spiritual beliefs as an engine for social change, Jenny's responses combined her faith with her progressive values.

"I have a friend who has to choose between medicine or food.  That is morally wrong."

Even in states that have been passed over for a large portion of national support, when we talk about the issues and we talk about the value of LBGT people, we can produce good results.

Take a look at South Dakota.

Does Gay Advertising Work?

A recent ad tries to personalize marriage equality by having straight people place themselves in the LBGT community's shoes.

The LBGT community and our allies have been trying innovative marketing strategies to change public opinion. Check out the best below the fold.

I'll take Republicans for $100,000

If vetoing marriage equality bills is worth $100,000, imagine what actually passing the bill would be worth.

An Inconvenient Truth for South Dakota?

Two interesting stories appeared today in the Sioux Falls, SD Argus Leader. Apparently, our Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved, with only a "number of conditions," the creation of a new $1 billion coal-fired power plant on the border of South Dakota and Minnesota.

Appearing in the same day's paper is a story about a potential wind farm being held up because of secret military concerns about radars.

How convenient.

Whatever happened to a good protest song?

Maybe part of the reason it's taking so long to move Progressives into action is because we lack the appropriate sound track.

Here's my nomination for the rest of 2006:

Pink-"Dear Mr. President"

The floor is open to other suggestions; that's what they made the comment section for, right?
