AFSC hosts an Iraq Awareness day with the "die-in" event. This event takes place in front of the Federal Plaza building and serves to represent the Iraqi lives lost due to the Iraq War. Here are the details of the die-in:

This was forwarded to me this morning... I Vote, You Vote (a project of
American Democracy Institute and CREDO Mobile) is "a peer-to-peer
system built to get more young people to vote. It is more than just
voter registration because it allows politically engaged individuals to
finally get their social networks to register."

The cool part is that it allows you to customize
your outreach to each potential voter--you can set the tone of the
outreach email (formal, informal, humorous, or Spanish--which isn't a
tone, but still cool!), select issues that you think will resonate with
them, and add personal messages into their outreach email to encourage
your friends, family, and colleagues to register to vote!

That's why NOI will be holding Organizers Summits across the country from
June to September to connect technology-enabled organizers, managers,
staff, and leaders to use the new tools, tactics and strategies
available to organizations of all sizes.

The Summits will help to incorporate young organizers into other civic
engagement work, build a leadership pipeline within each state/region,
and further build relationships among organizations and individuals.

My fellow fellows,

The Higher Education Act of 1998 requires that U.S. colleges and
universities make a “good faith effort” to register students to vote, but many
schools have yet to meet the standards. For this reason, the Student
Association for Voter Empowerment (http://www.savevoting.org/) has coauthored a pledge with the United States Student Association and the Student PIRGS, with which
student leaders can lobby their college presidents, calling for practical administrative measures to increase voter participation. (The pledge, named “the American College and University Presidents Commitment to Civic Engagement” can be emailed to you upon request).
