Wall Street is often seen as a combination of misogynists and ultra-conservative guys; and is often to be said an “all boys club.” Indeed, most of the people on the street are guys and generally many women face some problems. However, is there room for progressive people on Wall Street--- being that I  have always wanted to work there since I was in 10th grade and will slavishly try to make it in what my boss calls “ THE JUNGLE”?  The answer is obviously yes, because it has to do with the understanding of what progressivism, as an ideology, truly is.  Progressivism to me is the understanding that a state of affairs exists and people   want something else and as a result it warrants changing. Even though I would, in a more traditional sense, consider myself conservative, I have never seen any contradiction with being a slavish proponent of progressivism. We conserve that which works, and when we find that it is not working we discard and gain a few more tools to move to a better state of living. In business,  like many other fields, there is not much room for improvement or doing things better because what works and generates the required results is sufficient; but to be progressive is always to be in search of a  perfect state of existence for anything. Most of what we do has a degree of standardization that gives it a degree of perfection; and there is nothing wrong with pursuing that.   Institutionalism, though rigid with snail-like movement for change is equally important and some folks on the progressive spectrum often try to discard the importance of institutions as mediums of change----we have seen that at times it is difficult but in my view that is when true progressivism shines. I would equate my view of progressivism with the way people generally view religion. It doesn’t matter if you are in China,   Iraq, Tibet, when you profess that you are Christian you will always be that and you will tenaciously defend your beliefs.  We should be able to profess, in fact in a superior sense, that progressivism is a structural necessity justified by the fact that we have the mental ability to envision a better world; which with all do respect is difficult task! When we say that we would like all people to be judged by the content of their character and not their skin; we in fact defy what is structurally there to think of what can be; and in this case we also attempt to defy Biology.  I call myself a progressive, simply because as human beings we have the mental faculty as well as the energy to always be in constant pursuit of perfection as well as a better future. Winston Churchill once said that the empires of the future are in the minds of men, as a result we can understand that the future is open and if viewed in a progressive agenda will be progressive! That is why I call myself a progressive; it is an ideology and it is in fact a religion to me!
