More Benjamin Franklins
We are very used to hearing about welfare mothers and the working poor and how federal subsidies andtaxpayers’ monies are used to support them. I do not hear much now about the fact that with the higher gas prices and the increases in basic food prices, the subsidies provided by the federal government to those people who are not fully integrated in the economy may not be enough. What are some of the economic plans to keep these marginalized groups afloat, and to correct the market economy’s unequal distribution of wealth that is causing the middle class to continue shrinking and falling into poverty?
The middle class is middle because there is a lower class. We need a strong large working class that can enjoy the full benefits of healthcare, retirement, education and leisure to sustain a future generation of proud, independent and innovative members of this democracy like our founding father Benjamin Franklin.
