Power Vote! Here I Come!
Monday- as far as Mondays go was pretty splendid, now as I head into Tuesday amidst my work I realize that today I'm leaving to fly to the Twin Cities to train at Power Vote.
Power Vote- is an amazing environmental justice youth vote initiative that aims at getting 1,000,000 voters committing to vote for clean and just energy in this year's election. The key to this work, and the work of other organizations like The League of Young Voters and the United States Student Association is that the vote work, with the platform is followed by concrete accountability through campaigns and direct action following November 5th. For Power Vote the first step in continuing to hold newly elected officials accountable will be the 2nd Power Shift Conference which will, like the the Power Vote training be an unbelievable experience not to be missed.
Power Vote is already off to an amazing start with 2,700 people committed to the Power Vote pledge online (and this is not including postcards that are currently being collected on the ground across the country). The pledge is committing to making clean and just energy a priority in this election but more specifically pushing candidates and future elected officials to make these changes now:
1) Green Jobs Now
2) Invest in a Clean Energy Economy
3) Cut Global Warming Pollution
4) End our Dependence on Dirty Energy
5) Re-engage as a Leader in the International Community
6) Take Dirty Money Out of Politics
I am excited, well more than excited to work with the amazing organizers and have the opportunity to train and organize with them because environmental justice is not a one-sided issue, and it is intrinsically connected to many of the other issues that are needing change now.

Yay, Power Vote!
I'm especially excited to see that the six-point pledge tackles the environmental justice issue on many levels, getting closer to the source of the problems.
Can't wait to hear more.
