Democratic President, Democratic Congress, but no rights for gays
Despite proclamations of "yes we did," a lot has not been done in this country, including recognizing the rights of gay people to marry and adopt children.
In Arizona, the ban on gay marriage has passed, as well as in Florida. In Arkansas, gay couples will not be able to adopt children. In California, although the final votes are still being tallied, 52% of voters have voted against gay marriage. (A detailed breakdown is available here.)
Unfortunately, the ballot measures up for voting and their outcomes seem to have been lost in the shuffle of 60-point headlines of Barack Obama winning the presidency. Apparently, the people have spoken on wanting change . . . just not too much.
