Ever thought you might want to start an online community or advocacy project, like ColorOfChange.org, yourself? If so, keep reading.
Some of the best ideas we get at ColorOfChange, about what issues to tackle and how to approach them, come from active members like you. Sometimes the ideas don't quite fit our model or they go beyond what we can take on as a campaign--but they're great ideas. It's why we're excited about Take Flight Microgrants. It's a program we're supporting that provides funding and support for folks who want to launch their own online community and advocacy projects.
If you have an idea for an organization, campaign, or online community you want to build, the Take Flight Micogrants program could help you get it off the ground. The deadline is coming up this Tuesday, March 31st, so please check it out now:

Take Flights Microgrants are awards of between $500 and $5000 geared toward supporting web-savvy activists and entrepreneurs in their quest to create the next ColorOfChange.org, Jack & Jill Politics, MoveOn.org or Daily Kos. Beyond the financial support, the fellowship program offers mentoring and access to the networks and resources that you need to get started.
If this seems interesting to you, take some time this weekend to brainstorm about that media or social networking project you've always thought could change the political landscape, or that online tool that could amplify your advocacy around issues like police accountability or school reform. The folks at Take Flight Microgrants want to hear from you.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, so please take a look soon. And ask others you know who might be interested to do the same:
