ALUMNI IN ACTION Kamaria Moir Young People For was thrilled when 2006 fellow Kamaria Moir turned her internship into a full-time job offer at Baltimore Education Network last year. Kamaria participated in YP4’s internship program, where she was matched with a mentor and developed a professional relationship that translated into a job offer at the end of the program. Kamaria’s hard work and determination fueled her growth at her host organization, where she was promoted from program associate to program coordinator in just six months! Kamaria’s commitment to continuing professional development has catapulted her success. This month, Kamaria will travel to YP4’s National Summit to share more about her internship experience and current job. In addition, Kamaria and 2006 fellow Gigi Traore plan to take advantage of the Summit’s Open Space workshops to lead a session on hip hop and activism.

CHECK IT OUT
The League and MoveOn.org launch a Facebook primary

The media and most politicians still don't think young people care, and they don't think young people show up to vote. They don't think we matter. So our friends at The League of Young Voters PAC have teamed up with MoveOn.org Political Action to kick off a virtual online primary election to prove them wrong and show them how we flip our networks.

On their new Facebook application, you can “vote” for your favorite candidate and the issues you care about most. “Vote” by secret ballot or compare your vote to your friends’ and recruit people to boost your candidate. You'll be able to see poll results nationally and for your specific Facebook network.

The race is ON.

For more info on this virtual primary or with general questions about using Facebook, click here: http://theleague.com/primary-FAQ.
