The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Annie is the President for the Latin American Caribbean American Student Association (L.A.C.A.S.A) club at Trinity Universty (D.C.) She has worked with children in D.C. as a tutor, worked on immigration issues, and has volunteered with an environmentalist activism organization. She wants to increase the knowledge of environmental issues and to to learn how to take action in an effective manner.
