The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Arielle is vice president of the Student Labor Action Project, a group that is appealing to the Penn State administration with United Students Against Sweatshops to make Penn State apparel sweatshop-free. She is also a member of the League of Women Voters. She believes that everyone should be aware of their role in the world and how that role can be a vehicle for them to stand up for what they think is right.
