The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Anders is a graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. He is a member of the YP4 Blog Team, and a 2008 fellow of the Front Line Leaders Academy.
Anders is a proud resident of Tacoma, WA, and is the youngest elected member of his county's Conservation District. Anders has the unique distinction of being one of the three graduates of the Front Line Leaders Academy to have been elected to public office after having been trained.
