The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Ayah Young is a Program Associate at the Rockwood Leadership program in Berkeley California. She has a broad assortment of community organizing experience, from involvement with reproductive rights campaigns to raising awareness about human rights violations against women and children at home and abroad. An avid supporter of empowerment through education, Ayah hopes to join forces with a local feminist clinic and engage local youth in a sexual health awareness campaign and literary project.
