Kevin Killer used his 2006 Young People For (YP4) fellowship to educate people on his reservation about a ballot initiative that would have banned civil unions.
Coming from an area with 70 to 80 percent unemployment, he's now a trainer with Campus Camp Wellstone and has been elected President of the YP4 Network.

At Penn State, Gyekis is earning a double-concentration BFA in ceramics and drawing/painting and minors in sociology and civic and community engagement. She has integrated the arts and the social sciences within her education through involvement in large-scale community art projects. She has designed, organized and painted three community murals in inner-city Harrisburg. Hundreds of people from all socioeconomic and racial backgrounds, ages and social roles (from prisoners to students to church groups) were involved in the designing and painting process with an emphasis on dialogue, interaction and process to build relationships within the community and to create pride and ownership of the themes of the murals as well as the physical murals themselves.
