The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Kathy strives to create an inclusive environment, one in which individuals feel safe expressing their thoughts and ideas. What started as a graduation requirement building homes for low-income families has become a driving force in her life and ambitions. Concerned with both the apathy of those uninvolved and the burnout potential for those who take on too much, Kathy hopes that the YP4 Summit will provide her with networking opportunities and strategies to deepen the capacity of activists on the Bryn Mawr campus while expanding the scope of their overall influence.
