The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Lauren works primarily with refugee organizations in Chicago. Thorugh this work she has learned to communicate with adults and children from a variety of different cultures. At the summit she hopes to improve her communication with those I serve, and educate others about the inequalities in the world through verbal and written expression.
