The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Megan is the secretary of Libertas, a student club that promotes awareness of human trafficking in the world today. She is especially interested in how Asian- Americans form their identities in the current social environment in the United States and is working on a research project about second-generation Korean-Americans. Megan believes that progressive students should learn more about how we relate with one another and strive to see how their own experiences connect with others'.
