Rebecca Fureigh
(rfureigh)
Hello, hello. I managed YP4's website and online communications from July 2007 to April 2009; everyone calls me Fureigh. I joined Young People For after an extended Messenger-Anderson Communications Fellowship at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, where I launched a podcast series about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elders and experts. I'm a proud graduate of the New Organizing Institute and now do freelance website development and online strategy consulting.
I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Reed College with a degree in sociology. While at Reed, I served on the Honor Council and as co-leader of the Queer Alliance, hosted a weekly radio show on campus, produced the evening news at KBOO Community Radio, interned at KQED public radio and engaged in anti-oppression work. In 2004, I co-created ResourcesPDX.org, a health resource guide for transgender people in the Portland, Ore., metropolitan area.
I serve on the board of the National Youth Advocacy Coalition, have served on the advisory board of the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls and am a founding member of the Girls Rock Camps Alliance. I'm also the guitarist for the Shondes.
