The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Rachael is finishing up her last semester at the University of Illinois and applying to school psychology Ph.D. programs for the fall. She has been a resident advisor on campus and is still working with the staff in the hall as an office assistant. Rachael is currently working in an after-school child care program. Her goals are to work with children to provide them with the best education and school experience possible. Rachael also feels that education about social issues is very important on college campuses and will work to increase this.
