The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Born in Southfield, Mich., Robin is the President and CEO of the Josie Odum Morris Literacy Project, Inc. She is also a published poet, actress and community activist. Her public speaking skills have earned her recognition by the Michigan State House of Representatives. She is committed and passionate about matters of literacy and aims to use her influence as writer and speaker to direct attention to literacy issues in her community and abroad.
