The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Susanna is the co-coordinator of Words That Hurt, a campaign that aims to identify and question derogatory language. Through this she hopes to raise awareness about prejudices that exist in our daily actions. She believes that by engaging in discussions about our routines, we can more effectively work to end the continuation of stereotypes.
