Sam is involved with a variety of progressive causes including environmental justice, Darfur advocacy, and issues of material inequality. Sam co-founded ECO, an organization that takes a community organizing approach to promoting sustainable values within the student body and contributes to the development of a strategic plan for Northwestern and Evanston carbon neutrality. ECO originates from Hillel, the Center for Jewish Life on campus, and Sam believes religious pluralism represents an inclusive discourse that inspires genuine progressive values and action. Sam embraces innovative social entrepreneurship.
