The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

As a member of the Leaders in Education About Diversity (LEAD) and as Student Adviser/Coordinator with the Center for Social Justice, Tanisha has led successful events and activities around the issues of cultural diversity, awareness, and education. She hopes to create training programs for social justice groups go into the Washington DC metro area on issues related to citizens of DC.
