The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Uriel is a member of La Colectiva, a student organization dedicated in serving the Champaign-Urbana immigrant community. His involvement has ranged from simple volunteer activities to organizing numerous rallies. He hopes to continue this work at a greater level and raise awareness about immigration among amongst his peers.
